Arizona Center

Through a dramatic renovation that turned the inward outward, this urban retail center has a new life as an active community destination by connecting to the urban fabric of downtown Phoenix.

Signage and graphics on the exterior of a retail center showing colors, patterns and directional information as cars pass by.

From vehicular to pedestrian scales, the renovated Arizona Center actives the surrounding streets and plazas with vibrant graphics, signage, landscape and lighting, and creates a gathering space that the community sorely needed. By opening and removing walls, and adding new entry points, the corner of the property at Van Buren and N. 3rd Streets has become a public plaza that now welcomes people to enter and participate.

We are thrilled to debut the newly renovated Arizona Center. The upgrades to the center bring a whole new vibe to the heart of downtown Phoenix.”

New signage and other architectural graphics are more active and engaging, too. They’re more colorful, reflecting the natural hues of the Southwest region. Large digital displays that hang above the plaza empower bolder, more dynamic storytelling – everything from branded graphics and thematic imagery to event announcements and advertising. Other elements are designed to shimmer and emit ambient sounds, becoming spatial elements that people interact with. Meanwhile street-level signage shows off the new Arizona Center brand; it enhances the pedestrian experience and invites passersby to enter and engage.
