Congratulations are in tall order to the teams that collaborated on Television Academy’s new state-of-the-art Saban Media Center, which received the 2017 Calibre Design Award for Entertainment at the International Interior Design Association’s awards gala held at the Beverly Hilton on May 20.

The technologically advanced 42,000 square-foot Saban Media Center was designed to become a new cultural epicenter of Television Academy, with a membership of more than 22,000 television professionals, as well as an incubator for developing the art and science of television through the Television Academy Foundation.

To realize this vision, Television Academy assembled some of the best teams in the industry, including Gensler, ARC Engineering, Matt Construction, HLB Lighting, Risha Engineering, and Altitude Design Office.

“It’s an honor to work on a project team of such high caliber,” says Altitude Design Office principal Greg Nelson, IIDA.  His team, based in Playa Vista, developed experiential graphics, wayfinding and architectural signage, as well as an elaborate donor recognition system.  “Our goal was to make the Television Academy brand shine while also honoring the many generous gifts that went into making the building possible.”

The Southern California chapter of the International Interior Design Association recognizes 10 projects annually which demonstrate extraordinary collaboration and design excellence.
