A+D Museum

Facing a relocation, A+D Museum embraced the opportunity to address new audiences, reboot its brand and strengthen its mission to promote the impact of architecture and design on daily lives.

A forced move out of their existing location became a catalyst for change for the A+D Museum, as its leaders realized they had an opportunity to widen their current offerings of “design” and embrace a larger audience. Working on behalf of the museum’s board, Altitude Design Office conducted research – including a stakeholder survey, board workshop, and leader interviews – to inform a new brand strategy as the museum planted new roots in the downtown Los Angeles arts district.

I was very fortunate to work with Greg and his team at Altitude on the rebranding of the A+D Museum. Without losing sight of the institution’s audience and mission, Altitude launched a new visual voice for the museum that was aligned with its downtown Los Angeles location. Insight, strategy and creativity were the driving forces in developing a refreshed, relevant brand.”

The result was a refreshed mission and values statement, reinforcing A+D’s goal to celebrate and promote the impact that progressive architecture and design have on daily life. Visually, the new brand identity balances the significance of the design industry with its creative, even quirky side, and expresses an invitation for all to participate in the experience of architecture and design. Altitude developed the overall brand strategy and brand identity, including guidelines for ongoing use in print collateral, digital media, signage, and product design.
