Monarch Beach Resort

A renovation and rebranding of this prestigious coastal retreat balances luxury and approachability, creates new customer experiences, and eases the guest’s journey into one of relaxation and rejuvenation.

With new ownership in place, this AAA Five-Diamond resort in south Orange County, California needed a facelift. Working with the new owner and operators, Altitude designed and executed a comprehensive wayfinding, signage and branding program across the 172-acre site that included property and amenity identification, directional signage and the redesign of a main stair to help activate the restaurant space below.

The beauty of Monarch Beach Resort’s surroundings is celebrated with thoughtful design and décor with an ocean-color palette of blues, greens and shades of white.”

Overall, the updated design is inspired by the region’s lifestyle of barefoot elegance and the renowned resort’s balance of luxury and approachability. Experiential graphics take their cues from Dana Point’s natural Pacific Coast surroundings to create a sense of comfort and wellness, while thoughtfully expressing directional information. Within amenity spaces like the Miraval Spa, a sign made from a luxe stone slab communicates the spa’s earthen brand, and an inspirational quote greets spa-goers as they enter and start to unwind. The on-site restaurants are similarly designed with thoughtful branding and experiential graphics that appropriately welcome diners to enjoy an elevated experience of refined, coastal cuisine.
