Committed to creating better health and a brighter future, Takeda Pharmaceuticals turned to Altitude to envision a branded environment within its U.S. headquarters that would embody the company’s mission and values.

Altitude developed a branded environment to bring Takeda Pharmaceutical’s culture and values to life in their U.S. headquarters near Chicago. Working closely with Takeda’s HR and marketing teams, Altitude’s strategic approach to the messages people experience as they move through space led to the creation of architectural signage, experiential graphics, digital installations and exhibits that told the story of who Takeda is, what they do, and how they work, engaging employees and visitors with the company’s life-saving mission.

The project encompassed a 150,000 square-foot space within an existing building that was being redesigned and renovated, presenting a unique opportunity to craft a new immersive experience aligned with Takeda’s vision. An initial brand workshop delved into Takeda’s essence and aspirations, bringing consensus to the team’s interpretation of the brand personality, key messages and storylines that would serve as a guiding compass throughout the project.

Takeda’s purpose-driven statement brought clarity to the design process: “We exist to create better health for people and a brighter future for the world. While the science and technology we advance are constantly evolving, our ambition remains. We move science forward so we can transform more lives.”

This clarity fueled the creation of a space that would inspire and motivate employees, captivate recruits, and leave a lasting impression on guests. Specific brand and cultural messages were designed to be delivered to each audience at strategic moments throughout their journey within the headquarters. Vibrant visual displays showcased the company’s scientific breakthroughs, reminding employees of their vital role in transforming lives.

For recruits, the branded environment served as a window into Takeda’s distinctive culture and purpose-driven work. Engaging multimedia presentations, immersive exhibits, and interactive technology showcased the company’s commitment to making a meaningful impact on global health and drew prospective employees into a narrative that went beyond a typical job description, inspiring them to be part of a team that moved science forward and transformed lives.

Strategic brand messaging and visual cues were seamlessly integrated within the environment to leave a lasting impression, ensuring that external stakeholders and guests embraced Takeda’s commitment to advancing healthcare solutions. By carefully curating the physical elements, design aesthetics, and interactive experiences, the workplace was transformed into an embodiment of Takeda’s values.
