Hollywood Park Casino

As the first building on the site of the new City of Champions, Hollywood Park Casino reimagines the original casino’s mid-century grandeur to become a modern destination for gaming, dining and entertainment.

In the 1930s, ‘40s and ‘50s, Hollywood Park Racetrack was the place for Hollywood stars and other Los Angeles elite to see and be seen. But tastes changed and over the course of the following decades, interest in the racetrack and on-site casino dramatically declined, and the racetrack was ultimately closed. Fast forward to the current decade and this underused but well-located 238-acre site became an asset, ripe for redevelopment. Real estate developer Wilson Meany envisioned a new Hollywood Park Casino – anchoring a larger mixed-use development – that gives a nod to the glamour of yesteryear but speaks even more directly to today’s clientele.

You literally put our star on the map with this project.”

The design of the brand as well as the space is inspired by mid-century fashion: women’s apparel with bold, high-contrast patterns and movement, juxtaposed with men’s more structured, clean lines. Guests are welcomed into the casino through a grand port cochere that’s elegantly simple and symmetrical; the Hollywood Park Casino signage sits atop the entry with similarly understated grandeur.

Once inside, signage and wayfinding reflects the high-contrast design theme and makes it easy for gaming and for non-gaming guests to feel comfortable with easily-understood access to restaurants, bars and other venues without the intimidation of the casino floor. Throughout the property, branded elements invite guests to “raise” their game, just as the casino has elevated its own through a successful redesign.
