In the 1930s, ‘40s and ‘50s, Hollywood Park Racetrack was the place for Hollywood stars and other Los Angeles elite to see and be seen. But tastes changed and over the course of the following decades, interest in the racetrack and on-site casino dramatically declined, and the racetrack was ultimately closed. Fast forward to the current decade and this underused but well-located 238-acre site became an asset, ripe for redevelopment. Real estate developer Wilson Meany envisioned a new Hollywood Park Casino – anchoring a larger mixed-use development – that gives a nod to the glamour of yesteryear but speaks even more directly to today’s clientele.
